These photos completely sum up my morning! Bronx let me sleep in until about 9:15 this morning. We got up and got him some dinosaur oatmeal. We then decided we needed a little fresh air and got a couple miles in. We needed it. Came back home and had a little snack. Blueberries, strawberries, cantaloupe and a banana with a blueberry, strawberry, orange detox water. Yum! After all of this I was feeling GREAT! As I should be, because that was the point of it all. However, every single time I look in the mirror I find a flaw. Who doesn’t? I say has ‘blank’ changed at all. I’ve lost 33 lbs but I feel like ‘blank’ is disgusting. Today blank was my arms! My arms have ALWAYS been huge and because my wedding dress is strapless I desperately want to fix this by September! After looking back I see how toned they are compared to what they were and I really can’t complain. It has only been a couple of months and they really do look so much better. I’m really proud of myself. Not only for posting my hideous before pictures, but for taking them! This helps my motivation immensely! I have people on my Facebook tell me that I inspire them, every single time I post a photo! So although some of the people following me may think my body is disgusting and not something they want to see in their newsfeed.. I’m still helping a few! And even if it’s only a few.. What I’ve done for my body could change their lives! I have never in my life been this healthy, happy or energized. I feel so great and if I can make them feel that way too I’ve really done something! 🙂

Happy Mother’s Day!!

I am so blessed and honored to be a part of such a special holiday. I feel so blessed that God trusted me enough to put my little Bronx into my life. He made me a mom, which means today is really about HIM! He has made this whole experience so incredible. He has taught me true love by loving my unconditionally every second of every single day. When were together I don’t feel like a young mom, or a less fortunate mom.. I am his and he is mine and that is all that matters and that is all that should matter. He is so so loved and I just could not thank God enough for that boy’s beautiful soul. I am SUCH a lucky mommy.

With that being said, I’d like to send one giant Happy Mother’s Day to all of the lovely ladies who deserve it!

I know that my great grandma, grandmas, aunts and family friends have played huge roles in my life and in my parenting, now. I am so thankful for ALL of those hardworking ladies! Obviously, especially, my Momma! I would not be the mother or woman I am today without her. She is so kick ass and hardworking. I’ve never met a more incredible lady!

Today is for ALL of the Mommy’s though! Whether you be a biological mom, a birth mom, a step mom, an adopted mom, a grandmother, a foster mom, an aunt, an older sister, etc. If you were selfless and put a child’s life before your own. Put clothes on their back, food on their table, and shelter over their heads.. Today is FOR YOU! THANK YOU for stepping up for the woman who felt like they couldn’t. Thank you for either giving your baby to the life that he/she deserves or for taking that baby in with open arms. Thank you for your patience and your growth. Thank you for all that you do, for all that you don’t have to do. Today is yours. Embrace it. You are loved today. You are thanked today. You are blessed today.

Salmon wraps?

So today for lunch I decided to make salmon. I love salmon but I was searching Pinterest for a new recipe to spice it up a bit. I came across a honey glazed salmon that look delicious but then found a blackened salmon taco recipe that just looked phenomenal. I didn’t have even half the ingredients so I decided to just wing it and put together my own salmon wrap. So I cooked the salmon over 4 slices of lemon with light butter, cilantro, and non salted lemon pepper seasoning on top. I baked it in the oven at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. While that was cooking I got out one of the 100% whole wheat wraps I used for my avocado chicken salad. I mixed avocado with a little garden salsa and mayo. I know it sounds weird but I swear it was delicious! I spread that out across the wrap. I then cooked some sweet corn and covered the wrap in that and added some cilantro. When the salmon is done add it on the wrap and there ya have it. It sounds really strange but the flavors really complimented each other and made for a quick, easy, and delicious meal! 🙂

165.6 lbs to 140.8 lbs after baby.

20140510-095454.jpg

Embarrassing? Yep. But it’s my body and I’m working my ass off everyday to make it better. I’m in search of stretch mark creams or remedies but I doubt mine will ever disappear, they are extremely deep. I have 30.8lbs to reach my goal weight. I started at 173, I’ve lost 33 lbs, I am MORE than halfway there. I know I can do this and I can’t wait to LOVE my body when I get there!!

R A N T I N G

So, I worked at a restaurant owned by my mom since 2011. Andrew recently got a new job and is getting a pay raise, and my relationship with my mom was sucking, so we agreed that it would be best for me to stay at home with Bronx. I put my two weeks in about five or six weeks ago now, but I haven’t had one full week without a shift. She has put me on the schedule at least one day every week, usually the most inconvenient for me, except for this week. I was not on the schedule and the day I’ve been working is Sunday, so I’m free on Mother’s Day. Let’s back track a little though.. On Easter my sister asked why I couldn’t come to Easter dinner, I said because I always work 7-3 on Sunday, my mom then butted in to say, no you used to work every Sunday.. You’ll never work a Sunday again after your two weeks is up.. So what are you doing now? Well Andrew Bronx and I made plans for Mother’s Day since this will be my first one off since I was pregnant and had Bronx. Yesterday, Friday, they call and want me to work 2-8 because a girl has to go to jail. I told them no. I said why can’t she switch with a girl who works a morning shift because she doesn’t have to go Til 5. They told me they got it covered and then I wake up to a text.. Can you work 4-8? NOOOO! I don’t work there anymore!!! It is not my job to cover your ass while you sit in jail. I am not screwing up the plans my family made for me for Mothers Day to work so someone can sit in jail. I’m sorry I don’t have sympathy for you because this is your FOURTH DUI since I’ve known you! Ugh. I’m just really aggravated by all of this. I just want to spend this Mother’s Day with my baby!

Young Mom Tag 2.0

I love YouTube tags but have no way of recording videos for a YouTube channel so here I am again. Just answering some mommy questions because Bronx is napping, laundry is drying and I don’t have much else to do! 🙂

Mommy Tag 2.0
1. How many children do you have and how old are they?
I have one child and he’s one and a half.

2. What is your proudest moment as a mom so far?
He makes me proud when he says ‘thank you’. He makes me proud when he gives me a big hug and kiss. Every milestone, every word, everything makes me proud of him.

3. What has been the most frustrating thing as a mom?
Getting ready seems SO impossible now. Don’t ever expect me to be on time, ever. And doing chores. He always wants to help which is adorable but awful at the same time. Or when they’re sick and you have no idea what’s wrong. It’s more upsetting than frustrating I guess, but it really breaks my heart.

4. How do you discipline your child?
We tell him ‘no’ or ‘don’t’ which he understands and if he continues to do it he has to sit in the corner for a couple of minutes.

5. Cursing, do you do it in front of your child?
Most days are spent just Bronx and I. When it’s the two of us I NEVER curse. I am probably guilty of cursing in conversation with someone in front of him, but am lately focusing on that more.

6. Do you think your relationship has changed since having your child? Are things better or worse?
Definitely! And they were worse before they got better but were in a really good place right now! 🙂

7. Since becoming a mom do you find yourself acting like your own mom?
I dont. Our parenting styles and ideas are very different and I like it that way.

8. How are your relationships with your girlfriends?
The friends who decided to stick by me know that Bronx is my world. If we have plans they always know that he is coming along as well. For the most part they’ve been great and we have good solid relationships.

9. Your favorite place to take your child?
He loves being outside 24/7. I love taking him to the zoo in the summer!

10. Your least favorite place to take your child?
Ummm. I guess I haven’t really encountered a place that was so inconvenient that I disliked having him there.

11. Piercing baby’s ears.. Do or don’t?
My mom waited until I was 6 and asked her for them. One parenting method of hers that I do agree with. I think there are pros and cons of both. I think it’s easier to keep them clean when they’re little and they don’t know what’s going on. But some 6 year olds may not want piercings in their ears either. I don’t really know what I would do if I had a daughter.

12. Favorite skin care for you and your children?
I’m awful, I suck at taking care of my skin. I use the Johnson’s lotion on Bronx daily. Usually the brown oatmeal one.

13. Must have mommy make up item?
My days are easiest without make up.

14. Bath or shower for you and your children?
I love baths, they’re my guilty pleasure. Unfortunately out bath tub is small and it sucks. Bronx and I usually shower together. Quick and easy.

15. Are you back to your pre baby weight?
I’m probably 10 lbs below it. 🙂

16. What are your college dreams for your children?
I hope that he wants to go to college but the decision is ultimately his. Who knows what the world will be like 18 years from now.

17. What is one show your child LOVES but you cannot stand?
Easy. We don’t have TV. 🙂

18. Cloth diapers.. Yay or nay?
Yay! We use disposable but I wish I would’ve found a cloth diaper that worked for us. I love the idea of them and hopefully I can cloth diaper my future children.

19. Finish this sentence: you know you’re a mom when you…
Think getting dressed is changing from pajama pants to yogas/leggings.

20. Have you done the first mommy tag?
I put it up on here a few days ago but it somehow got deleted. I’ll have to do it again!

Baby Name Tag

If I could make videos, I would. However I don’t have a way to record them so I’m just going to steal some tags from YouTube and write them here. 🙂

Baby Name Tag.
1. List your favorite and least favorite baby names from the SSA 2013 baby name list. (why do you like/dislike these names?)
My favorite girl names were Ava and Olivia. If Bronx would’ve been a girl he would’ve been Ava Jade. Honestly, just because I liked the sound of it. I know a lot of Olivia’s but love the nickname Liv. My least favorite girl name was Emily. I don’t like it as much as the rest because it’s EXTREMELY common. The boy names I liked were Noah and Jayden. I like really unique names and these two were probably the most unique or uncommon on the list. The name I disliked most was Mason. Again, because it is really common right now.

2. If you had twins, what would you name them? (G/G, B/B, and G/B)
If I had twin girls I would name them Lennon and Cecilia. Twin boys, Riker and Hudson. Girl and Boy, Lennon and Riker.

3. If you could change your name to ANYTHING, what would it be?
I honestly think Cassie suites me perfectly, so I wouldn’t change it.

4. You have four children, any gender. All of their names have to start with the same letter. What would you name them?
I’ll go with B and start with Bronx, since I already have him. So.. Bronx, Brenna, Baylor, and Brayleigh.

5. Favorite animal inspired names?
Girls: Ari (means lion, eagle in Hebrew), Tora (means tiger in Japanese).
Boys: Colt, Leo. (Those two are a little more self explanatory, haha.)

6. Favorite color inspired names.
Girl: Coral, Olive, Violette, Scarlet.
Boy: GREYson, or Grey as a middle name.

7. Top 3 BOY names.
Riker, Hudson, and Jude.

8. Top 3 GIRL names.
Lennon, Cecilia, and Brenna.

9. Favorite celebrity baby names.
Obviously Bronx, I have one and so does Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz. I LOVE Kingston, Gwen Stefani’s sons name. I’m sure someone famous has a child named Jude but I can’t think of who. Lennon is my all time favorite girl name, taken from John and Julian Lennon. I like Ava, Reese Witherspoon’s daughter. I like Maddox, Pax, Vivienne, and Shiloh from Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s bunch. I love a lot of famous names! 🙂

10. Ultimate guilty pleasure names.
Olivia. I ADORE that name but I know way too many. Kingston, I love but Andrew hates it so it’ll never happen, same as Brenna.

11. Most hated baby names.
I am a lover of names, haha. I think every name is important and suites someone somewhere. I’m not too find of extremely common names like Katie, Sarah, Emily, Brittany, Ashley. I also don’t care for the name Apple. I had a hard time liking any boys names when it came to naming Bronx but now can’t think of one I hate.

12. Choose a baby name based on a food or drink.
Drinks: Jack, Royal, Brandy.
Foods: Olive, Colby, Graham, Sage, Ginger, Reese.

13. Choose a baby name based on a month.
August.

14. Choose a baby name that is already in your family.
Ella, Aiden, Jason are family names I would use. Robert is a family name and Bronx’s middle name.

Avocado Chicken Salad Wraps

20140509-073904.jpg

Because yesterday was surprisingly hot for May in Michigan I decided to search for a yummy cold sandwich recipe for dinner. I came across this Avocado Chicken Salad and HAD to try it. It was SUPER easy and SUPER delicious.
Here’s the Recipe:
Ingredients:
1 Avocado
2 cups of shredded chicken
1/2 tsp of garlic pepper
1/2 tsp of salt
1/2 tsp of pepper
2 tsp of lime juice
1/4 cup of mayonnaise
1/4 cup of plain Greek yogurt
1 tsp of fresh cilantro

You mix it all together in a big bowl and let it sit in the refrigerator for 20-30 minutes and then enjoy on a wrap, pita, bread, crackers, chips, etc.

For the avocado we cut it in half, popped the pit out and then carefully made verticals and horizontal lines, to dice the avocado and then popped them right out of the skin. That sounds confusing but it was SO easy!

We served ours on a 100% whole wheat wrap with gluten free yellow corn tortilla chips.

Potty Training

Bronx is almost 1 and a half. I would LOVE to have him potty trained by his 2nd birthday in November. Where to start? I introduced him to the potty a long time ago. I never forced it, just wanted him to have the idea of it. He used to pee and poop on it every morning. Now he freaks out until I get him down and tries to pee on the floor. He has a seat for the regular toilet and one his size, hates them both. If anyone has any good advice for potty training little boys.. Let me know! I really wanna get crackin on this.
